Giveaway: The Fireman’s Wife

imagedbSo many people have said that they would love to read The Fireman’s Wife (see my review HERE) that I have decided to offer up a giveaway for this wonderful title! The copy that I am offering is my own gently-used ARC so please be advised that it doesn’t look just like this picture at the left.

The rules are easy. Sign up below using Mr. Linky between now and noon on January 31st. I will do a drawing and announce the winner on February 1st. If you don’t have a blog, that’s fine. Just make sure that you leave a valid email address in the comments section so that I can contact you.

Someone is going to start out the month of February in a great way! Good luck everyone and please feel free to spread the word!

Books for the Holidays Giveaway!

Pssssst!!! What the button says? Well, it’s true. I just don’t want to say it “out loud” because I don’t want to draw any attention from certain snoopy people who read my blog and might figure things out. ;)

Guess who else is doing you-know-what? The Koolaid Mom from In the Shadow of Mt. TBR is hosting a giveaway! Go on over and check out this post.

You’ll be glad you did!

Holiday Book Fun!

Check this out! Bookreporter.com has posted some cool holiday features at their website.

A different reason why books are the perfect gift every day from now until Christmas! Personally, I don’t need convincing. ;)

Next, there is the Holiday Basket of Cheer Contest. Here’s what you can win:

Readers can enter to win a basket that includes two copies of the book (one to keep and one to give), wrapping paper and a bow, and holiday-themed items such as Ghirardelli hot chocolate mix, gourmet vanilla marshmallows, Chewy Peps candy, an Illuminations cinnamon spice-scented candle, and more.

On Friday, November 21, they will be launching an “Authors on the Holidays” feature where authors including Mary Higgins Clark, Carol Higgins Clark, Kristin Hannah, Garth Stein, M.J. Rose, Adriana Trigiani, Mary Kay Andrews, and more will be sharing their favorite memories of giving and receiving books.
And my personal favorite: The What to Give/What to Get Guide which offers gift-giving suggestions in 13 categories. I tell ya, it’s a haven for book people. Click on the images for direct links and enjoy!

Booking Through Thursday-Conditioning(10-30-08)

Are you a spine breaker? Or a dog-earer? Do you expect to keep your books in pristine condition even after you have read them? Does watching other readers bend the cover all the way round make you flinch or squeal in pain?

I am not a spine breaker but I confess that I have, on occasion, dog-eared books. It used to be a pet peeve of mine but I guess I have gotten lazy. I will use just about any thing I can find for a book mark(I am currently using a coupon) but if I have nothing handy, I have been known to dog-ear a page rather than(**GASP**)lay it facedown which breaks the spine or lose my place.

Since I get most of my books used, I don’t expect them to be pristine. I am usually just happy with a reading copy and I don’t flinch when people bend the covers all the way around. Unless it’s my copy they are reading. Then I will yell at them.

In other news, time has run out on my giveaway of The Brass Verdict. Only two people entered and one has withdrawn her name so there is no need for a drawing. The winner is

SUE

Sue I will be in touch about the snail mail info. Thanks for participating!
