Hi Amy! I thought there was a tad bit of predictability as well, but not enough to spoil the book as a whole.

I love Anita Shreve! I can't wait to read this one. I'm a little worried that you said it was a bit predictable. I don't usually find Shreve's books to be so, and that's what I like about them, the twists she usually throws in toward the end.

Bellezza- I believe I am the only person I know who hasn't read anything by Jodi Picoult. I plan to, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

You nailed it though <i>"fraught with angst, and often no good solution."</i> Shreve is gifted at evoking emotion and there really is no good or bad guy. Just people caught in very human situations. I do look forward to reading more(and Jodi Picoult too if she is similar.)

J.Kaye- Not terribly predicable, I just saw part of the Mike & Silas storyline coming. I still enjoyed it and look forward to more. :) P.S. I will link your review here if you don't mind.

For me, it wasn't predictable - none of it. Caught me completely off-guard...lol! I love the fact her books are so much deeper than originally thought to be.

Anita's writing reminds me in a way of Jodi Picoult. There's always a situation fraught with angst, and often no good solution. I get caught up in them, but I have to prepare myself for the ride.
